What are the benefits of laser hair removal ?
What type of lasers do we have ?
With 4 different types of hair removal machines, we are confident in ensuring we use the right laser hair removal machine for your skin, achieving the most satisfying results.
At your consultation, the laser hair removal specialist will do a patch test to find out which is the most suitable laser machine for your hair and skin type.
Soprano XL–is a Diode laser. Great for all skin types and pain free. It is one of the latest laser machines out on the market. Great for all skin types and highly effective on darker coarser hair.
ND Yag – This laser machine is ideal for dark and Asian skin types.
Alexandrite – Is perfect for lighter and stubborn hair types.
Duetto- a mix modality laser (Alexandrite & NdYag), excellent on lighter hair
This depends on the laser Alexandrite and NDYAG hair removal lasers can be used with or without gel. The laser head is then chosen and placed on the skin and short pulses are released. However, to cool the skin both have a cryogen attachment, which discharges constant cold air at the same time as the laser to cool the skin (unlike the candela laser which only shoots are intermittently.
All skin types are suitable for laser hair removal as we have a variety of lasers. The best results are achieved with clients who have lighter skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of the pigment melanin. Fair hair has less melanin and is more difficult to treat and may require more treatments or one of our stronger lasers. Grey/white hair has no melanin and is not suitable for laser treatment.
This depends on the person, the colour and density of the hair and the area. Other factors include the type of laser used and for women- the time of the month. The Soprano XL laser hair removal machine is a state of the art procedure, a Diode laser specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, more comfortably, and with fewer visits than ever before. It gradually heats the hair follicle whilst the hand piece is passed over the same area constantly. It is said to feel like a hot stone massage.
The NDYAG and Alexandrite lasers have the cool air which reduces the pain greatly, although some more sensitive areas can feel like an elastic band hitting against the skin.
Some clients like to use Local anesthtic cream prior to treatment, which can really help for people with a low pain tollerance, this can only be used in conjunction with some lasers hair removal machines.
The skin is normally has Erythema (reddening of the skin) after treatment as well as swelling around the follicles, darker hair will asorb more heat and therefore may in some clients produced a stronger reaction. This can last from 24 hours-3 weeks depending on the person.
The laserd hairs are shed after 1 – 3 weeks and fall naturally from the skin. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new skin. There may be a period of having no hair for a few weeks, depedning on the clients growth cycle, then the hair in the Anagen growth phase will begin to show again, typically finer and more slowly than before.
After the 1st treatment, depending on skin and hair type the area can begin to look patchy.
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles where the skin has been treated may be raised and bumpy, this usually subsides within a few hours. Very few people experience itching a few days later as the hair is pushed out. Stronger reactions are rare, but side effects can include blistering and hyper/hypopigmentation. This risk is greatly reduced when clients follow after care instructions and do not tan prior to and after treatments.
