What lasers hair removal machines do we have?
The DUETTO MT laser- is the first duel laser on the market to allow us to expertly mix two lasers together to provide the safest and best results. This machine includes the Alexandrite, perfect for lighter stubborn hairs, and fair skin types 1-3 and the ND:YAG laser providing safe hair removal for Darker skin types 4-6. This provides better results for those with lighter hair that ordinary lasers will not touch i.e. very light brown or dark blonde and some red hair types.
The combination approach is also great deep hair follicles such as woman with PCOS or for the removal men’s beards/facial hair. The DUETTO MT laser will also target light fluffy hair on Asian skins types, this can be very tricky to remove as it requires higher amounts of energy, but needs to be delivered safely enough to not hit the skins pigmentation only the hair. We have had excellent success on Asian clients nearing the end of their treatments at our clinic on the last 20% of hair or on clients that have had little success on the Nd;Yag lasers at other clinics in London.
The AWARD WINNING Soprano is Pain Free laser hair removal!! This laser hair removal system is suitable for ALL skin types and for those with a lower pain threshold. Some clients find laser too uncomfortable even when used in conjunction with a cooling machine, this is when the Soprano XL can be really useful as it slowly heats the area with a reduced amount of pain.
We have had great results on thick dark hair, so it's great for those Bikini and underarm areas!
The non-invasive laser light works its magic to destroy the root, halting hair growth by destroying the hair follicle in the growth phase. Its ideal for those looking for a more permanent solution to hair removal in common problem areas: faces, bikini area, legs and underarm. This laser works best on darker hair and can also be used on tanned skin, unlike most laser hair removal machines.
Why choose laser hair removal over other treatments?
- The procedure is virtually painless especially with the Soprano XL and cryogen cooler
-It is far more effective and provides faster results than IPL and electrolysis
- Never shave again once your course is completed
- Saves you money in the long term on waxing and the effort of shaving everyday
- It helps reduce ingrown hairs
- Most clients see a result after their 2nd treatment, or even on their 1st laser treatment!
-A maximum of 10-30% reduction on hair each time!
How does laser hair removal actually work?
The lasers used for laser hair removal are aimed at the certain area of the skin then selectively absorb pigment in to the hair follicle. The pigment is heated and the hair follicle is destroyed without damaging the surrounding tissue. The hair will slowly start to fall out, roots that have been destroyed in that session will not produce another hair. Then you are well on your way to being hair free!
How is laser hair removal treatment conducted?
This depends on the laser Alexandrite and NDYAG hair removal lasers can be used with or without gel. The laser head is then chosen and placed on the skin and short pulses are released. However, to cool the skin both have a cryogen attachment, which discharges constant cold air at the same time as the laser to cool the skin (unlike the candela laser which only shoots are intermittently).
Who is suitable for laser hair removal Treatment?
All skin types are suitable for laser hair removal as we have a variety of lasers. The best results are achieved with clients who have lighter skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of the pigment melanin. Fair hair has less melanin and is more difficult to treat and may require more treatments or one of our stronger lasers. Grey/white hair has no melanin and is not suitable for laser treatment. What does laser Treatment feel like?
This depends on the person, the colour and density of the hair and the area. Other factors include the type of laser used and for women- the time of the month. The Soprano XL laser hair removal machine is a state of the art procedure, a Diode laser specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, more comfortably, and with fewer visits than ever before. It gradually heats the hair follicle whilst the hand piece is passed over the same area constantly. It is said to feel like a hot stone massage.
The NDYAG and Alexandrite lasers have the cool air which reduces the pain greatly, although some more sensitive areas can feel like an elastic band hitting against the skin.
Some clients like to use Local anesthtic cream prior to treatment, which can really help for people with a low pain tollerance, this can only be used in conjunction with some lasers hair removal machines.
How does it look after laser hair removal treatment?
The skin is normally has Erythema (reddening of the skin) after treatment as well as swelling around the follicles, darker hair will asorb more heat and therefore may in some clients produced a stronger reaction. This can last from 24 hours-3 weeks depending on the person.
The laserd hairs are shed after 1 – 3 weeks and fall naturally from the skin. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new skin. There may be a period of having no hair for a few weeks, depedning on the clients growth cycle, then the hair in the Anagen growth phase will begin to show again, typically finer and more slowly than before.
After the 1st treatment, depending on skin and hair type the area can begin to look patchy.
Are there any side effects of laser hair removal treatment?
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles where the skin has been treated may be raised and bumpy, this usually subsides within a few hours. Very few people experience itching a few days later as the hair is pushed out. Stronger reactions are rare, but side effects can include blistering and hyper/hypopigmentation. This risk is greatly reduced when clients follow after care instructions and do not tan prior to and after treatments.
How many laser treatments are needed and how often?
The laser light targets only hair that is actively growing in the Anaphase. Therefore multiple treatments are necessary to be able to hit hair at other stages of growth. Treatment is conducted every 4 weeks on the face and 6-8 weeks on the body. The required number of treatments varies, but usually 6-8 are needed for optimum results, following that top up treatments are required for most clients, typically 1 treatment 6 months after a course and then another 6 months following that. This is because a percentage of hair on your body will be dormant throughout your laser sessions and therefore will not be hit with the laser.
Men usually require more laser hair removal sessions than woman due to testosterone levels. As well as woman with hormonal imbalances- a tell tell sign of this is hair appearing on the chin area. We ask clients in this case to have a blood test at the Doctors before commencing treatments, so that we can give a better indication on expected results.
How long does each laser hair removal treatment take?
Laser hair removal sessions can take from 5 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the size of the area. For example upper lip takes 5 minutes whereas full legs or back could be at least 45 minutes.
Will I need a Patch test even if I have had laser before?
Yes, everyone needs a patch test. This is standard practice. A patch test, on various energies will be conducted on the area that is intended for treatment, Hair that has had multiple laser sessions will be finer and require high energies to remove the hair effectively.
Before any laser hair removal treatment, the client has a consultation with one of our laser specialists, in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. Your skin type will be decided, and if needed the practitoner will conduct a patch test on more than one laser to decide which is more suitable for you. Aftercare will be discussed and a hard copy will be given to the client along with a payment plan.
This is also an opportunity for any questions the client may have to be answered. A patch test is done at the same time.
