Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal London
Laser hair removal is a very effective method of removing body hair removal. It uses a continuous output of only one particular wavelength and achieves a highly selective effect on the tissue of the hair follicle.
For information purposes only, Other methods Are Briefly mentioned Below
1) Waxing and Plucking - whilst inexpensive relatively time consuming and painful. If you are a busy professional, then this method is not for you.
2) Hair Removal Creams. These are not permanent, with some creams, the area has to 'waxed' to remove the hair from the roots before applying the cream, which is then applied daily for 4 to 5 days. The active ingredient is sometimes ant egg oil.
3) Electrolysis is an effective method and can sometimes have advantages for small or sensitive areas and it is less expensive, however it does require a skilled person and does 'take time'.
4) IPL hair removal equipment is less expensive than 'genuine laser' equipment and is often popular in the beauty salon 'hair removal business'. However experienced professionals, when given the choice, often choose Laser.
Extra Background
There are a number of methods of hair removal, many are temporary, only a few are permanent. The top method was previously electrolysis, it was then Intense Pulsed Light and is now Laser; this article extract looks at the five top methods:-
1) The top treatment for hair removal is now laser.
Previously the top treatment for most people was electrolysis because it was permanent. IPL and Laser treatments were less popular as they were expensive. The price of IPL equipment (typically used for rosacea) then became less, and IPL hair removal became 'number 1'.
The price of hair removal London has now become competitive, and because it is superior and more cost effective, it has replaced IPL as the top treatment for laser hair removal. It gives a stable, true, continuous output of one exact wavelength, and achieves an extremely selective effect on the relevant biological tissue in the hair follicle.
Three months of treatment can give a 65% reduction of the laser hair removal London, which is better than Intense Pulsed Light. Laser hair removal treatment is more expensive, but is 20% more effective and less painful, (due to shorter pulse durations); it can be used on skins types that may be unsuitable for IPL.
2) IPL hair removal equipment is less expensive than 'genuine laser' equipment and for this reason is often more likely to be used in the deregulated beauty salon 'Laser hair removal business'. IPL is less specific in respect of the exact wavelength or color of light, and so is not as effective as laser unless the clinician is very experienced. If used with the wrong setting, IPL for Laser hair removal may cause burning and result in scarring. When the setting for hair removal was incorrectly used for a skin blemish (stretch marks) on a person in a beauty salon, the client had to go to Accident and Emergency to be treated for 3rd degree burns.
Intense Pulsed Light operates using a broad light spectrum and achieves a highly selective effect on the relevant biological tissue in the hair follicle.
Cost and Effectiveness:
After three months of treatment, Intense Pulsed Light can give a 55% hair reduction. Intense Pulses Light is cheaper than laser hair removal London because of the lower equipment cost, but is less effective. As previously mentioned, there is a higher risk of burning the skin; an experienced specialist may avoid using it on tanned skin or skin types 4 - 6 due to pigmentation risk.
It may also be more painful and there may also be a tendency to super heat epidermal melanin. The pain may be described as being like an elastic band being flicked against the skin.
3) Electrolysis. This is an important, well established and effective method. It has several advantages over Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Laser for small or sensitive areas:
. It is less expensive
. It causes permanent destruction of the hair follicle
Electrolysis is however very skilled and takes time. This is why it is more suitable for smaller areas or sensitive areas with fewer hairs.
4) Hair Removing Creams. These do not give permanent results, however some vendors of these products (sold on the internet) may claim the results are permanent, increasing their sales. Manufacturers of these creams do not claim they are permanent. Instructions by 'internet sellers' are typically that it needs to be used for five to six months and the area has to 'waxed' to remove the hair with the root before applying the cream - daily for four to five days. When the hair re-grows the process is repeated; the cream 'slows down' growth of new hair.
Where the product is not on sale in chemist shops in countries like the USA and UK, that have strict regulations, then exercise caution if considering ordering over the internet. Look for a comprehensive list of ingredients; research (google) any that you are unfamiliar with.
5) Waxing & Plucking - this is an inexpensive but painful and time consuming method. A deciding factor about whether to use this method is how valuable your time is.
